Dear Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union Community,
On behalf of the Boards of Education, administrators, and staff, we are excited to welcome our new and returning students and families to the start of the 2024-25 school year. We have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare for our students' return to school and look forward to making this a wonderful year!
As the RNESU Interim Superintendent, I am looking forward to learning more about our schools and our communities. To do this, I plan to visit our schools, classrooms, parent-teacher organization meetings, extracurricular activities, and community events. These visitations will enable me to learn where we are as schools and districts as we work to serve all of our students in ways that best suit their immediate and future needs while ensuring that we are doing the most possible with our finite resources.
Last year, RNESU began working on a strategic plan to guide the work and the future of the district. I am committed to continuing the RNESU Strategic Plan process so that our supervisory union will have a set of short-term and long-term outcomes from which we build our learning plans and budget. Right now, the initial guideposts for the plan are the themes of Student-Centered Learning, Development and Outcomes, Family and Community Engagement, and Staff Development and Support. As we continue to learn and collaborate with one another, they may shift slightly, but those are already critical to our students’ individual and collective success.
Please stay connected to RNESU by regularly visiting our website at www.rnesu.org and downloading our mobile app (Rutland Northeast SU for Android and iPhone) for official District information and news. In addition to checking for email messages from your schools and the District, please like and follow us on Facebook and X, and don’t miss our monthly publication in the Rutland Herald, which will provide in-depth information and resources about our District.
Important Reminders
School begins for students on Wednesday, August 28th. School-specific information and bus routes will be available shortly before the school year begins.
The RNESU Family and Student District Handbook is available here and on the RNESU website.
All public schools continue offering all students free breakfast and lunch, regardless of household income. Even though meals are free, schools still need to gather household income data for other educational purposes. Household income information is critical for determining which schools and students qualify for many programs and benefits related to students’ income status. It enables the Agency to report essential student data. Here is the digital form for household income information that families can complete on their phone or computer.
We appreciate your partnership and support and look forward to making this a year filled with success, confidence, and connectedness for our students.
Sincerely,
Rene Sanchez, Interim Superintendent
Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union
